An insider from Meta, the parent company of Facebook, wrote a book, Careless People, that is apparently not complimentary about Facebook, its culture, several of its big name leaders, its actions, and, based on the incoherent rage Meta is displaying towards it, probably the carpet in the meeting rooms.
I hadn't heard of this book until yesterday. I bought it online and it's already out for delivery. I deleted my Facebook (and instagram, twitter and tiktok) account(s) months ago. Fall of last year. I still have social media (substack, youtube..) but not those ones anymore.
Probably wouldn't have heard about it if they weren't trying to censor it. Now, imma read it.
Judging from how many folks are still using Facebook, Instagram, Threads, I don't think Meta will suffer as it rightly should. I can't disengage from Amazon, but I've jettisoned all Meta products from my life. I do miss Facebook, but I can do fine without it.
