My fear is that the collective intelligence and experience of the American electorate is not up to the job.
I do not know why nor understand, but imo America as a whole does not respect learning and the quest for knowledge. In fact my worst fear is that that there exists a critical mass of individuals that distain life long learning and the quest of becoming an ever increasing enlightened individual.

You didn't mention the insane cost of our out-of-control presidential system. Over $10 BILLION was spent on the last presidential election, and now citizens can't get a refund for a shoddy product. We can't even fire the incompetents we elected and the cronies they appointed. The parliamentary system seems to work well for Canada and costs only $570 million.
