I was pretty busy this week, so the reads section was pretty lite. I thought, then, I would try something different and suggest some podcasts.
What Went Wrong Podcast: Your favorite podcast, full stop, that just so happens to be about movies, as the tag line goes. An excellent look at the creation of movies. The two hosts are excellent presenters, real, and well-researched. They are a blast to listen to and inevitably I learn something about the movie making process.
Publishing Rodeo Podcast – the good, the bad, and the bloody ugly: Two writers, one a lead author, one a mid-list author, debuted in the same year. They discuss how their careers diverged and how poorly run the publishing industry actually is. Much more sporadic than when they started, but definitely worth the listen if you care about books.
Powers and Laz: A bit niche unless you are a Blackhawks fan, but this is an excellent look at the team, the NHL and, weirdly, recent movies books and music. Come for the hockey, stay for Powers pounding Laz about how stupid Taken was.
If Books Could Kill Pod: Bad books taken apart by good research and sarcasm. What’s not to love?
Puck Soup: Another excellent hockey podcast, even if Ryan is allergic to anything fun.
The Domonique Foxworth Show - PodCenter - ESPN Radio: Really smart football commentary leavened with Foxworth taking the piss out of his longtime co-host and producer Charlie. Just a blast to listen to.
Print Run: A podcast run by two agents discussing the publishing industry. Always sharp, informative without insulting your intelligence, and never afraid of dealing with the real issues in the industry. Another fun listen for people who the creative process.
Have the best possible week, everyone!
