The Only Country Where This Regularly Happens
I am a tired of living like this. It’s been two days, and all I have is in rage.
My children spent their entire school years having active shooter drills at school. They spent their time learning to hide under desks, be quiet, and throw fucking staplers when a gunman entered their class room. All because some people love the fantasy of living in an action movie more than they love actual children.
Your gun will not save you from tyranny. If the 101st Airborne decides you are a traitor, you sad, little Ar-15 is not going to save you. Mate, you won’t even see the drone that kills you. Hell, the police bombed an entire Philly block in 1985 just to get at some idiots cosplaying revolution. The only thing that keeps you alive is that you live in a society that values life more than you do. Your guns have literally nothing to do with it.
And if you really do need them for hunting or crime prevention, then you won’t object to permitting and background checks. Because those do nothing to keep law-abiding citizens from reasonable guns. And, logically, fewer guns on the street men fewer guns in the hands of criminals, making you safer.
But logic doesn’t seem to work here. We all know that mass shooting went up after the automatic weapon ban was rescinded. We all know that it is too easy for disturbed people to get guns in this country. We all know that we have orders of magnitude more mass shootings in this country than any other peer country. We all know that we have more children killed by guns than any other peer country. We all know that we have more shootings in schools than other other peer country. Hell, parents in other countries don’t feel compelled to buy their kids bulletproof backpacks. We have so many mass shootings that you might not even be aware of which one I am talking about. America, fuck yeah!
An AR-15 cannot be worth this.
You want to be a hero? Heroes are the people who help other people, not just themselves. Heroes sacrifice for the greater good. Heroes do what’s right, even if it inconveniences them. Maybe you should try being a hero in real life rather than in your imagination. Your kids, at least, will thank you.
That is, if they survive long enough for you to change.

I love this ! So much anger and empathy, I could feel your rage. I hate guns. They are created to shoot things and the results are disasterous. But assholes love their guns. This may be one of your best writes that I've indulged in. Happy day to you !
Thank you! Totally agree. Even most gun owners support better gun laws. As with so much else, Congress doesn’t have the guts to act, and they are bought and paid for. There’s also a huge racial background to all this. See
