Quite an interesting list of opinions. I'll start at the Top. Turkey is good but a big bird lasts too long and who feels like making a million turkey dishes? I keep its simple, cook it and eat some, have a turkey sandwich or ten, make soup and give a bunch to the dog. Good bye turkey and I like ham better. Next, NO terrible Christmas songs, please. All I want for Christmas is crabs, the steamed variety, and luckily I live in Ocean City, Maryland, so I will have them. The war on Christmas should prevail. Halloween is my favorite holiday and my Halloween decorations are still up. I might skip decorating for the Yule this year and stay in All Saints Day mode till next October. And "Happy Holidays" is a more appropriate and encompasssing statement although sometimes I say "Crappy Holidays" as it's not the same as it was when you were a young, naive kid who believed in Santa Claus. If I put up a holiday tree, which is artificial as I don't like killing trees, it always stays up till April 1 to prove I'm a fool, or maybe just don't feel like taking it down. No comments on Thanksgiving football games, not interested in NFL at all. Yes, fireworks should not be a part of holidays. I had a crazy dog years ago and when I found out they were shooting off fireworks in my backyard, my dog was not scared at all but was eating the live ones, I blew a fuse. He burned all his whiskers off and scorched his nose. That was one time I wished I had a gun. No one was happy when I put an end to it especially my insane dog. Putting Christmas in January or any other time except when Christ (was this a real person ??) was born would take an act of Congress. Never happening because Congress can't do anything functional anymore and the Christians would veto it off the floor and out the door. I read that today, in 1917, NHL was founded in Montreal succeeding the NHA (AP, 11/26/25). I'd rather be watching ice hockey than cooking and eating Thanksgiving foods. Last but not least, did I hit the word count? Happy Turkey Day, have fun & stay safe !!!
